Why 0.8 8/10 80/100 80% and ⅘

all have the same value

In the picture below I have shaded 80 out 100 of all the spaces.

In this picture I have looked at it in another way. And divided it into columns of tenths. Now 8 out of 10 or 8/10 are shaded.

In this picture 100 squares are divided into five groups of fifths.

Out of 5 columns or ⅘ which as you can see is the same size as 80/100

percentage and decimals . I have shaded 8 tenths or 8/10 I know that there are 8 in the tenths column or 0.8.

Percent means out of 100 so 80/100=80
